Backstory

Rylea grew up in Elatris, a small community of hunters and gatherers hidden deep in the forest.

As a young huntress, she managed to kill a swift, roughly eagle-sized bird with a single arrow as it zipped across the sky. It took a long time to find the fallen carcass, and when she did, she claimed a tuft of its feathers as a trophy — proud proof of her sharpshooting.

Her family and entire village were killed when she was around 90 years old. A massive, twisted bird-like creature descended on Elatris and slaughtered everyone. She only survived because she was out hunting alone.

She swore to hunt it down at any cost. But she is not strong enough yet. So she pushes herself, hunting bigger and bigger game. She joined a local hunter's guild to stay apprised of any sightings of the beast that destroyed her home — and to find opportunities to test herself against ever greater foes.

Rylea took her name from her older sister, who died in the attack. She had always looked up to her — it was her sister who taught her everything she knows about the hunt.

Traits

She is stubborn and solitary, insisting on doing everything herself even taking on missions meant for whole parties alone. She has almost died several times because of it.

Her self-reliance has made her resourceful and provident. But she cannot ask for help, even when she needs it, and will almost always deny needing any.

She doesn't form many bonds, but she will risk her life without hesitation for the friends she does make. Her older sister, whose name she took, who died in the attack on Elatris.
